If you’ve ever wondered why you should get a good education, just ask a South African and they will gladly explain it to you. When I first heard this I was astonished, but now I understand that they are studying hard because they just want to see results in the job market. Learning life lessons is much more complicated than most teachers want you to believe, I’d say the best way to teach someone is to throw them into the wild so they can experience the pain of failure.
I have recently attended a free course that outlines the basics of leadership and management in the workplace. The point of these training companies is to bring to light the knowledge which has been accumulated over centuries and put it into a course for others to learn. What you will notice is each course was intended for a certain audience, each module making it a million times easier to see results on the given subject.
While yes, you could say self-study has a purpose, in the grand scheme of things a skilled teacher will be able to teach you much more. A few times I have realized how much of a difference this weekly training can actually make for the students. I believe that everyone should at least attempt to reach financial freedom, for what is the point of working to accomplish another person’s dreams.
Human beings are seen as the dominant species on this planet, we have accomplished magnificent feats and therefore require large goals. Maybe we should take a look at the other end of the spectrum, besides the money, I just want to make the world a better place. Whether I achieve this or not it makes no difference, the thing you should just keep in mind is that I tried.
If you try to learn a new skill but do not want to put in the work, you will never reach the desired outcome. In the fast and busy world which we live in today, it’s important that students learn how to properly manage employees. I can’t think of an easier method that would allow South Africa to get back on track than if the whole population were to join forces and begin to teach tomorrow’s leaders.
For a real positive impact, all companies need to educate themselves through effective management training. Who wants to be poor? Nobody! I truly think that in order for everyone to stay motivated, they should start working for themselves. If you don’t, this lack of purpose will start to make you feel guilty about not achieving more with your time.
“I just want to figure out my purpose, I know it has something to do with money and you always talk about this long-term vision thing but how long is it really going to take!?”, this is a client I had a couple years back but it’s a quite a good question. In actual fact I never know what to tell them as the answer varies from person to person, they just need to persevere and take the right action. My philosophy is rather to try and find out that there was no purpose, then not try and find out there was.
We can only do one thing so many times before a clear-cut pattern emerges, once this happens you will not see another perspective, which is the definition of being trapped. I am willing to bet that you can’t find a single thing on earth which doesn’t have a necessary job to do. Everyone and everything is contributing in its own way. I would love to see how people’s lives would change if every child was just taught how to think this way from an early age.
